Details
The Serkyem Set is a traditional Tibetan Buddhist ritual offering vessel. It is used during ceremonies to make offerings to Dharma Protectors, deities, and enlightened beings. The set has two parts. The upper cup holds liquid offerings, and the lower bowl receives the overflow. Common offerings include tea, milk, or other sacred liquids.
During the ritual, the liquid is slowly poured into the top vessel until it overflows into the lower bowl. This flowing action symbolizes abundance, generosity, and the gathering of merit. In Buddhist practice, making offerings helps remove obstacles and creates positive conditions for spiritual growth and success in life.
Hot or strong drinks are often offered because warmth represents swift activity and the quick fulfillment of prayers. The Serkyem offering is a powerful practice connected with devotion, protection, and blessings in Vajrayana Buddhism.
