Original Buddha Thangka Of Shakyamuni

Shakyamuni Buddha Thangka, With Shariputra and Maudgalyayana. This sacred thangka depicts Shakyamuni Buddha seated in earth-touching mudra, the moment of his enlightenment under the Bodhi tree, with his two foremost disciples.

Shariputra stands to one side, revered for his profound wisdom and mastery of the Abhidharma, the systematic teaching of mind and reality. Maudgalyayana stands to the other, celebrated for his miraculous powers and his role in liberating beings from lower realms. Together, the three figures embody the complete path that Buddha taught: wisdom to see truth clearly, spiritual power to benefit others, and the enlightened presence that holds both in balance. The bhumisparsha mudra, the bowl of renunciation, and the radiant aureole all point to the single act of awakening that changed the world.
